Persuasive Essay On Racism - 1018 Words

I m an American Indian so I m familiar with all the Indian stereotypes, whether it s working at 7/11, always smelling like curry, or mocking us with our thick accents. Stereotypes have always been around, they have been used to make some funny jokes, but others have used it personally and criticize people with it. That is why racism is a big problem in this world with people using stereotypes to verbally attack people, thinking those things are true for every race and not getting to know people before judging them. My friends always turn to these jokes when they want to make fun of me but, I never take it personal because I know they didn’t really mean it. Plus, I would make fun of their stereotypes. He then told me that I was good enough to make the volleyball team. My coach also joked around and said that I shou ld improve on my math skills. I remember when our first practice happened he made us run suicides for a straight 30 minutes. One kid even threw up. Spring break started but it didn’t even feel like it since we had to wake up eight am every day that week to have practice. We would do intense workouts like bear crawls, mountain climbers, and push-ups. One kid even decided to quit the team. After spring break Coach Krastov told us â€Å"The fun begins now.† During these â€Å"fun† practices, whenever I made a mistake, Coach Krastov would make more stereotypes about me saying stuff like Kevin you can eat curry later stop thinking about it now., the whole team would laugh and I would feel embarrassed but it motivated me not to make mistakes and I would improve throughout the season. I felt like I was working so hard during volleyball practices. He would also make fun of other people as well saying their stereotypes, our team had every nationality. He told Chinese pe ople stop doing math in their heads. Also, he told the Hispanics if they were illegal or not. Everyone else also was working hard so they wouldn’t be made fun of by Coach Krastov.
